The temple was built in the years 1806-1810, originally as the Catholic Church. In 1920 it was badly damaged by the earthquake. In Soviet times, it housed a music school in Gori. The building was handed over to the Georgian Orthodox Church in the 90-ies. Samtavisi Gori Cathedral and currently owned by the episcopate.
