Hotel “Firouze” is one of the most important historical buildings in Borjomi, located
just few steps away from the popular Borjomi Mineral Waters Park.
The hotel with its location is very convenient and attractive for all types of the

It was built in 1892 by the consular of Iran in Russia Mirza-Reza Khan as a house
with Spa Treatment Elements and is the unique Cultural Monument. The design of
the building is mixture of Persian, Georgian and at the same time European style.
The front side of “Firouze” is assembled with mirrors, different ornaments and
there is only 3 buildings in the world with the same type/style. Despite the
reconstruction and refurbishment of the building, it has retained its original
appearance and style. The building was used as a hotel during the years 1920-30
“Firouze”, than in the years of 1930-50 it was used as a Holiday House for Prof.
council of Georgia and in 1950-80 years as a sanatorium “Firouze” Medical Corps
(Former residential building of Sanatorium is located in the same valley, about 1000
miles down along the river “Borjomula”).

Building description
The balcony back wall and the ceiling on the second floor of the main
building is adorned with decorative patterns (enamel – geometric and leaf
ornaments, birds), plaster moldings and mirror inlays. Here, nearby the
back wall, on the top of windows and doors are located 5 pieces of
rectangle photographs (portraits of men, where 2 of them is Mirza-Riza
Khan himself). Photographs glazed with later (Soviet) oil paint was painted
landscapes. Photographs are covered with glass, on which later (in Soviet
Union Period) was painted landscapes with oil paint.
Above to the central photograph is a Persian inscription “This excision of
Mirza Muhammad in 1309 year”. “Mirza” – is a Persian word and means
“Mr.” that is likely that the author of the markings and inlays is – “Mr.
Muhammad.” Under the ornamented porch wooden balcony – on the
wooden panels – is still two Persian inscriptions – this is the lyrics.
Introduction
